Morrisville, N.Y. — A 38-year-old man threatened a teen and injured another man with a knife at a Madison County bar this weekend, troopers said.
Nicholas B. West, 38, of Oneida, was charged with first-degree assault, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.
On Saturday, 911 callers reported West was being belligerent inside The Fort, a bar located at 97 Main St. in the village of Morrisville, said Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for the state police.
Around 11:40 p.m. Saturday, state police responded to the bar where they found West had assaulted a 47-year-old man.
While investigating, police discovered West was escorted out of the bar by the 47-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy when he became aggressive, Jiron said.
A physical altercation ensued and West lunged toward both victims with a knife in his hand, Jiron said.
Jiron said West cut the 47-year-old man on his right and left forearm. The man suffered a deep cut to his right forearm, she said.
The 17-year-old was not cut with the knife but was menaced, she said.
West was arrested and taken to Hamilton Hospital, and both victims were taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Jiron said.
West was later arraigned and taken to Madison County Jail. He is currently being held on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond bail.
